CORVUS 十 CRUX
CORVUS 十 CRUX is the rebirth of American born designer Alex London. Based out of NYC, CORVUS 十 CRUX possesses a deep need to to capture the images seen in the darkest and most beautiful parts of the human mind. To that end, the label uses less than conventional techniques to achieve each vision. Our lead designer, Alex London began designing formally at the F.I.T Pre-college program at fifteen. Alex attended Parsons and held various internships before a chance encounter with another designer allowed a mentor-ship that created the foundation, skills, and drive for Alex to pursue a solo career. In the fall of 2010, Alex officially created the signature label “ALEX LONDON.” However, after several years of business Alex was no longer affiliated with the original label. In the spring of 2013 the designer was tempted to move on under a new brand. CORVUS 十 CRUX is the product of this renewal in life and in art, with the staples of collections that evoke the dark, dramatic, and ethereal. Long flowing gowns and high collars evoke a sense of the grandeur, while low necklines, low backs, and beautiful fits accentuate the beauty of the feminine form. Each piece is sculpted with unconventional techniques and individual care to play with the strengths of each fabric.
Publications include Vogue Taiwan, a Vogue gallery exhibition featuring Stian Foss, Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam, L'Officiel Singapore, Nylon, ELLE Man Vietnam, Marie Claire China, Marie Claire Mexico, Purple Magazine, S Magazine, A Magazine Curated By, Vandals, The Ground Magazine, Creem, Hunger Magazine, Adon, Factice, Kurv, Jimon, and Z!NK Magazine March cover featuring Taylor Momsen. CORVUS 十 CRUX pieces have been worn by a plethora of celebrities that include Carmen Dell’Orefice, Lily Allen, Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift, Sandra Bernhard, Pamela Anderson, Nina Agdal, Kat Deluna, Raja Gemini, and Amanda Palmer. CORVUS 十 CRUX ‘s first pret-a-porter collection “Blood Red, Sister Rose” was released exclusively in Japan via Monoco for Resort 2013. CORVUS 十 CRUX made a surprise debut in the most recent commercial campaign for Canon Japan with makeup artist Yuko Takahashi as well as an advertorial campaign with Lexus featuring former Miss Universe Riyo Mori that has come out this summer.
This fall Taylor Momsen has worn several pieces for her new music video for her highly anticipated new single “ Going to Hell “. We were thrilled to get the chance to work with her again and hope to make this a long lasting relationship.
Taylor’s single released 9/19/2013
Most recently CORVUS 十 CRUX has won RAW: Natural Born Artist’s award for Designer of the Year 2013, while out in LA to accept the award CORVUS 十 CRUX had a smash hit with the premier of our latest ready to wear collection for the 2014 season inspired by nomadic tribes and the concept of entropy. We look forward to bringing the new collection to stores this upcoming fall.
"Kagami" for New York Fashion Week:
Within the mirrors of ourselves the garments of " Kagami " parallel as they fade from black, blue-grey, grey, greyish brown, brown, to cream, white, and a finally deep crimson. Floating chiffons and silk tulle make up the collection and are paired with stiff metal cage-like structures. The contrast of the metal with the light weight sheer fabrics shows us an interpretive form of the bound nature of the human spirit. As the garments move and flow like water, the metal cage keeps us bound in the fabrics. Whilst the bone woven into the metal plays off a mirror of our "inner" selves.
